The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting University (IRIBU) is a public university affiliated with The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which operates under the license and regulations of Iran’s Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT).
IRIBU was established in 1970 under the title of "School of Television and Cinema" and is a leading academic institution in the fields of media and broadcasting in Iran, and one of the first in Asia with a history of more than five decades.
The university offers a wide range of sciences, expertise and skills in the field of media, and currently has an associate degree in electronics, bachelor's degrees in television and digital arts, TV directing, journalism and electrical engineering, 13 master’s degrees and a Ph.D. degree in higher studies of media-radio and television.
IRIBU is a university for receiving education, expertise and skills for thinkers, artists, journalists and technicians who are interested in media activities at the global level. This university is committed to providing quality knowledge in the fields of media production, media engineering and technology, communication, journalism and the philosophy of radio and television.
Two prestigious academic journals, Journal of Audiovisual Media and Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Communication and Media, are published by The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting University with the permission of Iran’s Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
IRIBU has five faculties entitled Radio and Television Production, Communication and Media, Media Engineering and Technology, Digital Arts and Religion and Media, in which 164 full-time and part-time professors actively provide educational and research services for about 1000 students studying at the university. In 2013, the university established the Center for Growth, Innovation and Entrepreneurship with the aim of guiding, supporting and providing free and virtual educational and research services. Due to the uniqueness of its scientific and educational services, IRIBU every year welcomes several international students.
